Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016

Even though Halloween isn’t a Dutch tradition, it is becoming more popular. In the past I’ve been to a few Halloween parties and really enjoyed coming up with interesting costumes. In 2016 I thought it would be fun to have a little Halloween photoshoot for Facebook and Twitter. For my costume I decided on a witch. It wasn’t a very difficult cosplay, a store bought pointed hat, cheap wig and most of the clothing came from the second-hand store.

A few weeks before the shoot I scouted a potential area and found a good spot. On the day we got there relatively early so it was still light, making it easier to set everything up. The light faded quickly and we had fun trying out different poses and coloured lights. In hindsight I should have used real pumpkins as the paper ones crumpled the moment we took them out of the packaging.
The light inside the paper pumpkins wasn’t nearly bright enough and perhaps I could have done with a few more. We made a lot of pictures but we didn’t have a lot of experience with night-photography so many were blurry. These are some of the best ones, especially the last one. It was a good experience and we learned a lot, which helped us in future projects. Big thanks to Remco Jakma for making it a magical evening!
