Halloween 2017

Halloween 2017

Our photo-shoot for Halloween 2017 was a little more daring then the previous one. I wanted a horror scene, with a sprinkling of Halloween. The location is the gym-shower at the school where I use to work (with their permission of course). These showers were spacious enough but unfortunately, had a large skylight right above it. This was inconvenient; having the room dark would give us control over the lighting and shadows (adding contrast and atmosphere). We did our very best to cover the skylight with a tarp… it fell down before we could even start. This time, instead of using cheap pumpkin lanterns, I carved an actual pumpkin and was quite happy with the result. Surprisingly, carving pumpkins wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. The jars are filled with candy and lemonade. Most of the candy quickly became unrecognizable, so that didn’t quite work out the way I hoped either. A lot of ups and downs but it’s all something to be learned from.
These pictures are heavily edited in Photoshop. Using online tutorials I’ve edited the lighting, colour, added glows. No ‘correctional’ editing was done on my face or body. Big thanks to Remco Jakma, my partner in crime!
