Character Creation


Basic Skills
Strength: Influences carry weight and melee weapon damage.
Dexterity: Act sooner, hit more often, higher dodge and increased ranged weapon damage.
Intelligence: More powerful spells.
Endurance: Increase health points and magic/disease resistance.


Weaponry Skills
Melee Weapons: Increase damage.
Spears: Increase damage.
Javelins: Increase damage.
Slings: Increase damage.
Armor Use: Make better use of heavy armor.
Hardiness: Reduce 1% damage per point.

Druid Mastery: -10% Exp, Bonus to spells, can cast wearing heavy armor.
Strong Back: -5% Exp, Increased carry weight, armor doesn't wear you down.
Beast master: -7% Exp, Summon a wolf once a day.
Fast on Feet: -10% Exp, Act faster and receive additional action points.
Faerie Familiar: -7% Exp, Call a faery once a day.
Good Health: -5% Exp, Recover health once a day.
Limitless Energy: -5% Exp, Restore energy once a day.
Mighty Warrior: -15% Exp, Additional damage and hit chance.
Cursed at Birth: +10% Exp, Makes you very unlucky.
Sluggish: +10% Exp, Fewer action point during battle.
Frail: +8% Exp, Receive more physical poison/acid damage.
Stumblin' Feet: +8% Exp, In battle you get hit... a lot.
Rational Mind: +8% Exp, You can hardly cast spells, you can't use potions, scrolls, wands, etc.

My Characters


The game provides you with a default (balanced) team and advises to stick with them. As I've played the game before I decided to create my own team. An all-female team with two warriors and two druids.

Character creation tips
  • Weaponry Skills: Choose either melee weapons or spears, javelins or slings.
  • Weaponry Skills: Slings are easier than javelins as this weapon doesn’t require ammo.
  • Druid Skills: Place at least 4 points in Healing and war circle for all your druid characters.
  • Useful Skills: If you have druids with heal circle you won't need first aid.
  • Useful Skills: One team member should level herbcraft so you can create potions.
  • Useful Skills: Giving one of your characters luck will allow your team to stumble onto interesting things.
  • Special Skills: These skill points even when they are on different characters are cumulative. Try and get at least 5 points in each.
  • Fifth Character: You can create a fifth character using the editor or you can pick one up in Vanarium.

These are the character statistics I started playing with. Two warriors and two druids and I’ve been pretty happy playing with them. Though if I had to recreate my characters I would not have chosen hardiness as it only provides 1% protection per point. Also I should not have chosen Rational Mind for Brenda as this made her unable to use potions. Looking back now I would have specialized one of my druids in the healing/war circle with a high dexterity for additional action points. That druid should then be able to cast shield/quicksilver feet and heal on both warriors every round leaving my other druid to cast summoning/damage spells.

Dungeons are often full of secret areas and I’ve probably mist a few during my play-through. I’ll try to keep it updated.

Dungeon tips
  • Craft circle spells are a must when exploring dungeons.
  • You can sometimes walk around the outside of an area like Nethergate and find secrets
  • When you leave and return to an area, doors and chests will be locked again, barriers, seals and spider webs will reappear.
  • Some magic barriers can be passed but will deal damage.
  • Item drops should not disappear when you leave a dungeon.
  • If you are thinking of jumping down a pit, make sure you save first.
  • Spells like Beast Ceremony, Beastskin and Spirit Ceremony cannot be cast while in line of sight of monsters.
